PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICER
AAS C/Maj Ellen Wrighter
Public Affairs Officer
AAS C/1st Lt Omar Burnett
Public Affairs Assistant
AAS C/Maj Ellen Wrighter was born in Italy, and has lived in many different places, before finally settling in South Carolina. She is majoring in political science and minoring in Spanish. She hopes to commission as an intelligence officer in May 2021.
Most of Ellen's family has served in the military, but she never thought that she would. Choosing to try the AFROTC programs at USC has been one of her best decisions ever. She has learned so much in such a short amount of time, and cannot wait to be involved in the program for the next few years.
The reason Ellen joined Arnold Air Society at first was just for scholarship and internship opportunities, but it has been so much more than that. Being very new to the program, AAS helped her in learning how to march, call commands, and many other fundamental things that are crucial to success as a GMC cadet. She has not only gained knowledge in those areas, but she has also learned a lot about leadership and teamwork.
As the new PA, Ellen wishes to share all the activities that the Lt William Glover Farrow Squadron is doing. Her ultimate goal is for the social media pages to attract the attention of incoming freshmen students pursuing AAS.
In her free time she enjoys hiking, kayaking, reading, and spending time with friends.
AAS C/1st Lt Omar Burnett is currently a sophomore at the University of South Carolina majoring in Accounting. He was born in Anchorage, AK but has spent most of his life in Columbia, SC. Omar's interests are in accounting, finance, and investing. He plans to commission into the United States Air Force in 2021 as an acquisitions officer.
Omar joined the Arnold Air Society to become an overall better person as well as to get to know the community of exemplary cadets at his detachment and others. Arnold Air Society has also provided him with the necessary tools to become successful over his Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps career.
